Hotteok

Seonkyoung Longest Recipe 

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 1 1/3 Cup of Warm Milk

  • 1 Teaspoon of Active Yeast 

  • 1 Tablespoon of Sugar

  • 3 Cups of Flour 

  • 1 Teaspoon of Salt

For the Filling:

  • 3/4 Cup Brown Sugar

  • 1 Tablespoon of Cinnamon

  • 2 Tablespoon Finely Chopped Nuts

Other Filling Options:

Nutella, Cheese, Leftover Japchae, Chocolate Chips, Dumpling Filling, Custard or Anything else.

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, add the Milk, Yeast and Sugar and mix until fully dissolved. 

  2. Leave the mixture in a warm place to activate for 5 to 10 minutes.

  3. In a Stand Mixer or a large Mixing Bowl combine the Flour, Salt and Warm Milk mixture. 

  4. Kneed the Dough for about 5 to 10 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.

  5. Wrap the Dough with a Plastic Wrap and leave it in a warm place to rise for 3 hours.

  6. Combine all the ingredients for the Filling in a bowl and set aside.

  7. When the dough is ready, prepare a Nonstick Pan over medium low heat and enough Oil to cover the bottom of the Pan.

  8. Coat your hand with Cooking Oil and take a small portion of the Dough and roll it as a ball.

  9. Flatten the dough into a Mini Pizza with your fingertips then place the Round Dough on your palm.

  10. Scoop about 1 Tablespoon of the Filling in the center and seal it completely by pinching the edges together and wrapping the Dough around the Filing. 

  11. Place the Filled Dough on the Pan with the seam side down and cook it until the bottom is golden brown and crisp. 

  12. Once the bottom is done, flip the Dough carefully and it press down .

  13. Cook until both sides are golden brown and crispy.

  14. Repeat steps 8,9,10,11,12 and 13 until your Ingredients are done.

  15. Place the Hotteok on a Plate lined with a Paper Towel and serve.
